Inspired by my mother's experience with postpartum depression, this project explores how colour, light, and textile can offer emotional comfort through wearable, interactive design. It addresses the emotional and sensory needs often overlooked in current postpartum treatment approaches.

Design Approach

Combining fiber optics with knitting techniques, I reimagined light as a tactile material—shaping and texturizing it within soft textiles. This breaks the traditional flatness of knitted fabrics, transforming them into three-dimensional, light-emitting surfaces.

Material & Technique

  • Knitted textiles integrated with fiber optics, enabling ambient light transitions
  • A composition of soft and hard materials, creating dynamic sensory contrasts

Objective

To create a space—both physical and emotional—where postpartum users can engage with color and touch as tools for healing, reflection, and sensory grounding.
