Brief
This project reinterprets the traditional Chinese bead curtain through knitwear to explore the evolving roles of women across generations. Combining personal memory and cultural heritage, it transforms a domestic symbol into a tactile expression of connection, continuity, and care.
Colour & Material
I took inspiration from the colours of the peony flower, a symbol of femininity and strength in Chinese culture. The palette blends rich pinks, soft creams, and deep reds to express emotional and cultural depth.
Using polyester and nylon yarns with flexible sculptural materials, I recreated the three-dimensional feel of peony petals, balancing softness and structure to reflect the layered nature of female identity.
