In the Mood for Blossoms, 2022

This knitwear project explores how textiles can reflect the evolving roles of women across generations. Drawing from personal experience and cultural heritage, I reinterpreted the traditional Chinese bead curtain—a symbol of both domesticity and transition—to express the emotional bond between myself and my grandmother.


Colour & Material


I took inspiration from the colours of the peony flower, a symbol of femininity and strength in Chinese culture. The palette blends rich pinks, soft creams, and deep reds to express emotional and cultural depth.

Using polyester and nylon yarns with flexible sculptural materials, I recreated the three-dimensional feel of peony petals, balancing softness and structure to reflect the layered nature of female identity.
